Denis Rusjan

Assistant Professor in Vitiviniculture at Biotechnical Faculty, University of Ljubljana, Slovenia.

 

After a diploma degree in 1999, he got a position of Young Researcher at the University of Ljubljana, Biotechnical Faculty. He obtained his MSc in Viticulture in 2002 and PhD in Biological and Biotechnological Sciences in 2004. From 2004 he became Assistant Professor at the Biotechnical Faculty of the University of Ljubljana, besides his technical and scientific lectures however he continued his research work.

 

He collaborates in many bilateral, EU and Interreg projects, but he is also an adviser of vitiviniculture at the Slovenian Ministry of Agriculture. In 2010 he was elected president of the Technical Society of Slovenian Grape and Wine Growers.

 

Until now he has published numerous scientific and technical articles regarding vine science; vine growing and protection, vineyard pollution, grapevine diseases, grape and wine quality, phenotyping and genotyping of vines.

 

In 2008, the Ministry of the Agriculture elected him as member of the group which takes care of biodiversity of grapevine varieties in Slovenia. In 2012 he was proposed national coordinator of the GiESCO (Group of International Experts of vitivinicultural Systems for Cooperation).
