Dimitris Damianos

Professor, Agricultural University of Athens

 

Dimitris Damianos is a professor of agricultural policy and rural development at the Department of Agricultural Economics and Rural Development of the Agricultural University of Athens, Greece. He has a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Rhode Island, (1970), a Master of Science (1972) and a Ph.D. degree (1975) from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. He has carried out post doctorate research work at the University of California, Berkeley, (1979).

Dr. Damianos has worked in the Research and Planning Division of the Agricultural Bank of Greece. He has held the positions of special adviser for rural development issues to the Minister of Agriculture (1981-1985) to the Minister of National Economy (1985-1987) and to the Prime Minister (1996-2003). During the period between 1986 and 2003 he was a faculty member at the Department of Economics of the University of Patras.

He has published in various international scientific journals and he is the co-author of a number of books in English and Greek. He has served as President of the Hellenic Association of Agricultural Economists.
